In the past both staff and visitors never even thought twice about entering and leaving a building, whether it be a hospital, school, airport, office block or hotel.

Access was based on trust and good faith. Unfortunately that is no longer the case and large organisations are having to protect entrances, exists and doors within the building itself.

At Keyways we have the solution to solve this security problem. This would involve the installation of a simple to operate yet very effective access control system. We can offer a wide range of technologies to ensure that the access control system is tailored exact to your requirements.

The traditional access control system is still a lock operated by a key or in the instance of multiple locks, a master key system can be put in place where your key matches your job description. The key can even be protected from being duplicated through intricate key designs and copyright protected by law. Previous clients where we have installed these systems include large houses, hotels, schools, offices, airports and power stations.

Mechanical systems do have a couple of drawbacks, the first being the fact that you cannot remove a lost key from a system without rekeying all the locks that the key operated. The second downside is that there will not be an audit trail to indicate which key was used in which lock.

We can also provide mechanical digital locks which are both easy to operate and cost effective. This type of access control is normally only used for low security applications with a limited number of users due to the fact that they also suffer from not having an audit trail. Although it is easy to change the code, in practice it is very difficult to inform other code users of any changes when the code has been compromised.

Electronic access control systems should be considered for application that require higher levels of security.
